Greetings!
The 2007 Society for Human
Resource Management Conference and Exposition is
now in the history books. Sue
Meisinger, SHRM president and CEO, and Janet
Parker, SHRM chair, challenged the 22,000
attendees to spread the word about lessons
learned at the conference: what happens in Vegas
should not stay in Vegas.
“It’s SHRM” (the re-branding
of the organization) and “Enterprising HR” (HR
with an attitude) were two themes throughout the
event.
Lance Armstrong,
in the opening general session, recalled his
struggle with and triumph over cancer. He also
shared how he was able to win 7 Tour de France
championships.
I was there and most
impressed with the size and breadth of the
conference. It is telling in the fact that
the attendance was several thousand more than
planned thus shedding light on the important
role H.R. and SHRM are playing in the market
place.
All of us at OI Partners
believe all industries will receive great
benefit from this very good conference.
Wishing you all a special
summer!
